Ginger Biscuits

Imperial measures version - for metric, click here

12 ozs  self-raising flour
  8 ozs  sugar
  2 level teaspoons bicarbonate of soda
  4 ozs  lard or margarine
  2 rounded teaspoons ginger
  2 rounded teaspoons golden syrup

  1 egg

Place the dry ingredients in a dish.


Heat the fat and syrup in a pan, then place over the dry ingredients and mix with beaten egg to fairly stiff consistency.


Roll in hand to about the size of a walnut.


Bake for 15-20 minutes at 180C (350F) (Gas 4)
